Call for Abstracts

We are delighted to announce the Call for Abstracts for the fifth edition of the “Hardware Reverse Engineering Workshop” (HARRIS 2027), with tutorials on March 1, 2027, at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) main campus and the workshop on March 2–3, 2027, at NTU@one-north in Singapore. Following the success of previous years’ workshops, we invite researchers, professionals, and enthusiasts from academia, industry, and government to contribute presentations to this engaging event. We encourage you to share this information with members of your network who may be interested in presenting.

Presentations may cover novel, previously published, or work-in-progress research, as well as practical case studies or field reports. Presentations will be 20 minutes each, split into 15 minutes for the talk and 5 minutes for Q&A.

Scope:

HARRIS 2027 aims to explore and advance the field of hardware reverse engineering, covering a broad spectrum of related topics including, but not limited to:

  • Sample Preparation, Imaging, and Image Processing
  • Non-invasive and Semi-invasive Techniques for Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • FPGA Bitstream Format Reverse Engineering
  • Netlist Reconstruction from ICs and FPGAs, including Error Detection and Correction Mechanisms
  • Netlist Reverse Engineering Techniques
  • Obfuscation and Anti-Reverse-Engineering Techniques
  • Hardware Assurance and Trust
  • Hardware Trojan Design and Detection
  • Detection of IP Infringement
  • (Real-World) Hardware Reverse Engineering Case Studies
  • Applications of Machine Learning for Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • Benchmarks for Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • Open-Source Hardware
  • Hardware Reverse Engineering Tools and Frameworks
  • Reverse Engineering for Heterogeneous Integration and PCBs
  • Human Factors and Professional Training in Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • Confidential Computing and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs)

Submission Guidelines and Selection Process:

Prospective speakers are invited to submit a title and an abstract for a presentation related to the aforementioned topics. Abstracts should be informative and concise, with a maximum length of 300 words.

Each abstract submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the HARRIS 2027 PC. Abstracts will be judged based on whether they fit the scope of the conference, as well as their scientific rigor and clarity. We value submissions more highly if they are accompanied by supporting materials, including (related) papers, artifacts, demos, or tools developed as part of the submitted work. New research results may be given priority over previously published work.

Submissions are anonymous (double-blind) by default. Authors may opt for non-anonymous review, for example to share supporting materials that would reveal their identity.

Both title and abstract of accepted presentations will be featured on the HARRIS 2027 website alongside speaker information. As HARRIS 2027 has no proceedings, presented work can still be submitted to other venues.

Important Dates:

  • Abstract submission deadline (Round 1): November 15, 2026 (AoE)
  • Round 1 notification: December 1, 2026
  • Abstract submission deadline (Round 2): January 18, 2027 (AoE)
  • Round 2 notification: February 1, 2027

We encourage submission in Round 1, which allows earlier notification and more time to plan travel.

Submission Instructions:

Please submit your abstracts below, including the following details:

  • Title of your submission
  • Speaker(s) and affiliations
  • Concrete contributions and significance of the work
  • Review preference: anonymous or non-anonymous
  • Any supporting materials that help us better understand your submission
  • For industry submissions: talk type (research-oriented or product/tool demo)

Speakers are not automatically registered as workshop participants. We will notify you as soon as registration opens.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts and to welcoming you to HARRIS 2027 in Singapore.
